Getting Your Name Out On Social Media

So, as we all know, social media is an incredibly crucial aspect to connecting and marketing your business to consumers; however, there's more to it than that. There's no point in having your company on sights such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Snapchat if potential customers don't know you're there. So how do you get your name out in front of consumers? There are several ways to get your page in front of potential customers, but some of the most popular and effective include paid advertisements, share competitions, and following and liking content of potential customers in your target market. First off, startups and established businesses alike both take advantage of paid advertisements on social media. These are commonly found on Facebook and Instagram. The price of the advertisements vary depending on the amount of people that the post will reach and the specifications placed on it; however, most of these advertisements cost as little as $5. Specifications such as geographic location, time of day, age, gender, and psychographics can be used to determine the range of viewers that your post will reach.
Next are the tag and share competitions. These can be common for companies that are trying to reach a larger number of people in a shorter period of time. These posts include calling your followers to action to encourage them to like, share, and tag their friends in your post for a chance to win some prize whether that be a free product or service from your company, store credit, etc. This can help businesses garner a larger number of people in their target market because most of the people sharing the post will be sharing it with many of their friends that also fall into a similar demographic, geographic location, and share similar psychographic characteristics.
Lastly, to initially gain followers and get your company's name in front of individuals in your target market, you can make use of following and liking content by potential customers. This means finding individuals that you may already know and going to their page and liking a few posts, and then going to some of their followers' pages that seem in your target market and liking a few of their posts, and so on and so forth. While this may not guarantee followers or new customers, it will get your name in front of potential clients or patrons and leave a residual image in their head about your company. This strategy is usually most effective on Instagram as it is easier to like multiple posts by an individual and then move on.
x     While social media is an incredibly beneficial outlet for connecting with consumers and marketing your business, you must first insure that people know you are there. There are many ways of doing this, and the strategies will vary depending on which platform you are using; however, there are several that can be implemented across the board. Building an initial follower base is the most difficult part, but once you have a few followers, implementing tag and share competitions and using advertisements can allow for you to get your business's name in front of a multitude of potential customers.
